Pune Expat Club (PEC) is a Lexagent initiative and incorporated as an independent Not-for-Profit corporation. The Club aims at strengthening of ties between the foreigners and global Indian citizens in Pune; and promotes mutual respect for different cultures of the world.
PEC emerged out of the need expressed by many expatriates for a platform to engage in cultural, entertainment, sports, adventure, knowledge sharing, social programs and other activities beyond work place. This provides them with an opportunity to discover Pune, develop new skills and have fun.
PEC is a collective effort to assist the new families in settling down in the new environment, as well as a platform for established families to enjoy their stay in Pune. Many Pune Expat Club (PEC) members also participate in volunteer and charity work; and believe in making a difference in the lives of underprivileged.
Founded in 2010, the Pune Expat Club has been supporting the expat community living in Pune (the population is approximately 500) for 12 years now.
“There are so many expats who have stayed in the city for longer than they’d planned when they came to India. We try to help them see the positive aspects of India. Before the pandemic hit, we would organise social events and activities for them every week, which also included trekking, bird watching, musical nights, etc. The club is there to help the expat community in all ways – from helping them find a certain variety of cheese and fish to helping them settle down in the city,” says Preeti Roongta, co-founder, Pune Expat Club.
