Basics of Hindi - Urdu Poetry Writing and Performance Workshop

In the world full of injustice and repression, corruption and Anxiety, poetry and literature is a savior which doesn't expect or demand anything but give us the wisdom to fight with the inner as well as outer demons.

After several pokes and requests by the young enthusiastic writers eventually, Chand Ka Tukda is conducting its first Poetry writing and performance workshop facilitated by Ankush Tiwari for all the aspiring Writes and Poets present in Bangalore.

This workshop is especially for those who eats, breathes and live Poetry, who wants to take the literature forward in their life as a profession or passion.

Here are the things you can expect in this workshop,

1) Discussion on what is poetry, its history and what are the different types of poetries written generally.

2) What is writer's block and how we can overcome it?

3) Reading the work of most prominent Hindi Urdu Poets of all time and try to understand their art of writing. This time we have chosen to read a few of the selective works of Mirza Ghalib and Faiz Ahmad Faiz.

4) Various writing Exercises.

5) Preference on the selection of words, metaphors, understanding the use of sound, rhyming schemes, etc. in the Poetry.

6) Impromptu Poetry writing.

At the end of the workshop, you will have at least five of your own written Hindi poetries.

About the facilitator,

Ankush Tiwari is a Man of Voice and Words. Dedication, Sincerity, Hard work and Amiability defines him, he believes in spreading awareness to bring a change in our society and says that, Awareness can cure almost everything in the world if we get it at the right time or at the initial phase of any trouble/disease. In recent times he is one of the most prominent young Hindustani performing artists in India who write and passionately performs in Hindi blend with Urdu.

He has performed/Hosted in almost 100 shows and judged many poetry competitions in colleges in various cities of India to date. He is a Poet/Writer, a storyteller an Actor, an Activist, a Public Speaker as well as an author of two books named Khyalon ka Maikhana and "Hadon ke paar bhi ek duniya hai" which are the anthologies consisting of 60+ Hindi Poetries and 100+ Sher-o-Shayari.

Since childhood, he has been an avid reader and started writing during his college days. Being a literature enthusiast, he has been featured by various literary platforms and colleges including IIMs, TEDx, and Wittyfeed and delivered his TEDx speech in TEDxLLIM, Mumbai, later was invited to perform as a guest Poet in TEDx VileParle too.

He performs on various topics/subjects such social issues such as exploitation, corruption, Menta Health awareness, women empowerment, good touch and bad touch (An awareness campaign through poetry to let children know what is a good touch and what is a bad touch to protect themselves), awareness about menstruation, Beauty, Nature by writing in various genre e.g. Slam poetry, Spoken Word Poetry, Ghazal, Shayari, Muktak, Dohe etc. to make my message interesting for the audience.

He is also a founder of a literary community known as "Chand Ka Tukda", a platform for all the upcoming artists to showcase their talent across India.

Currently, Ankush hosts 2 shows in Bangalore:-
1) Sargoshiyan - focussing on discussing the poetries and life journey of legendary Hindi Urdu poets like Meer Taki meer, Mirza Ghalib, Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Ahmad Faraz, Nirala, Mahadevi Verm, Baba Nagarjun, etc. It happens once a month.

2) Tehzeeb, It is an open mic show where anyone and everyone from famous to new artists can come and perform in front of the cozy audience of around 30-40 people every month.
