In an effort to bring more awareness to our consumers and bring them closer to farmers, Delhi Organic Farmers' Market (DOFM) has been organizing a month-long rice festival. This is to celebrate the ancient varieties of rice from different regions of the country. It is also a tribute to the various unsung and unknown farmers of India, who have persevered through eons and generations to bring to our plates, knowledge, and wisdom of history.
Lest it is forgotten, DOFM is trying to connect the consumer in Delhi NCR back with the mighty grain and its benefits. A number of heirloom varieties, farmer promoters, and farmers will connect with consumers through the month and tell their story on rice and the reason why India was (and is) the 'Golden Sparrow'!
This festival would be coming to an end on 10th March and the closing ceremony will be graced by Smt. Maneka Gandhi ji alongside Padma Shree awardee farmer Shri Babu Lal Dahiya ji and other celebrated farmers.
There would be over 100 varieties of organic rice on display, which can be bought from the market. Select a few varieties would be available on the menu of The Park and can be enjoyed at the event.
Additionally, there would be various stalls ranging from organic vegetables. fruits, groceries, honey, milk and milk products, pickles, millets, tea varieties to eco-friendly tableware and even ready to eat idlis.
