Macbeth Badya is the musical resonance and physical poetry of the dialectics of the tragedy of Macbeth.
The famous tragedy, whenever restructured in film or theatre in different times in different countries, has always borne
the sign of the culture of that country. Who can forget Kurosawa's throne of blood orKrzystofWarlikowski’s Macbeth!
So when in India we try to depict the inherent tragic trajectory of Macbeth it has to be Indian rhythm and the actor portraying it has an Indian body and uses all traditional Indian movement scores. Heiner Muller reads Hamlet in his play as Hamlet Machine. Macbeth Badya is the Indian text that emerges with all modernity from the reading of Shakespeare's most famous tragedy. The physical poetry also attempts to create analogs of the tragedy of a modern man. Power and power and power and power. This power hunger in us is celebrated through Pakhawaj and Indian classical Ragas.
