About the Event :
In 1975, India's Iron Lady, Indira Gandhi declared an Emergency, the biggest step ever taken by our country's Prime Minister. Even her own cabinet was informed about the Emergency a few hours before its declaration. Overnight, press censorship was imposed, people arrested, and civil rights taken away. And India remained in this state of Emergency for almost two years.

What actually happened in that period? What went on at Turkman Gate and the 'sterilization programs'? Indian Coffee House and Regal Cinema in CP became places of resistance.
It is about the Emergency and the resistance that we will talk about in this book, taking fictional accounts from the novel Once upon a Curfew, which is set in the Emergency period.

Once upon a Curfew, set in 1974, at the time of the Emergency, explores the journey of Indu as she sets out to transform the lives of fellow women by turning her late grandmother’s flat into a library for women. In the process, she meets Rana, a young lawyer who helps her set up the library, but she is engaged to Rajat. When the emergency is declared, Indu's life turns upside down. As the Emergency pervades their lives, Indu must decide not only who but also what kind of life she will choose.
