Alliance francaise de Delhi is an Indo-French cultural centre which specializes in French language teaching, organizing and curating cultural events.

Alliance francaise de Delhi was formally established on 30 June 1956, on the initiative of Mr Ghulam Naqshband, following a proposition made by Claude Journot, then Cultural Counsellor with the French Embassy.

In 1948 an Indo-French house ("Maison franco-indienne") had already been created and gathered a small number of Francophiles from the intellectual elite of the capital. This structure had its name changed into "Cercle francais" in 1952 and organized film projections, exhibitions and musical programme as well as an annual gala which was very much "en vogue"
