Sultan tour – In partnership with unhurried

Cut back to 18th century when a young prince Tipu was taken by his father Hyder Ali to a newly created park and seeing red flowers called it Lalbagh. Even to this day the biggest park in Bengaluru is called Lalbagh.

On this tour, we take you to Tipu Summer palace – where you will hear interesting stories about Tipu Sultan and his father Hyder Ali who fought 4 wars with British.  Not many know that Tipu is considered the founder of rocket science technology and was the most feared enemy of the British. You can see a Rocket, a model of crouching tiger on a screaming soldier which Tipu used to play every day to increase his hatred of the British. Next we will take you to a Tipu Armory where he used to store weapons. It is in the midst of chaotic Kalasipalya and once you go inside the armory, it is peaceful and beautiful.

Next we cycle in the area called as Basavangudi, This area so well planned in 1898, that even it accommodates the present day traffic Bengaluru with ease. Wide roads, canopy of trees, old houses with beautiful gardens is a treat to the eyes amplified even more by the super cool weather of Bengaluru. We then visit Siddapura – a valley between small hills of Byrasandra, Nimhans. It is famous for its nurseries which numbered around 100 fifty years back, now reduced to 20 nurseries. Cycling inside this forested area, you forget you are in the middle of  a city with close to 1 crore people. It is at least 2 degree cooler than the rest of Bengaluru and is the coolest place in Bengaluru. We take you inside a famous ‘Krishnendra Nursery’. Seeing variety of flowers and other plantations is a treat to the eyes.

Next we take a walking tour of Lalbagh; you will be fascinated to hear the stories about contributions right from Hyder Ali, Tipu, Britishers and later Indian administrators. Lalbagh is central to Bengaluru getting the name as the garden city as a lot of experimentation, research was done here. The variety of flora will leave you flattered.

After exiting Lalbagh, we then head by walk towards New Modern hotel for brunch after a very exciting tour
