You may not think about knots on a regular basis. Learning to tie knots, though, can give you several advantages that you can apply in real life situations such as to secure a luggage to the roof of your car, or to hang a rope swing for your kids, or to hang a clothes line, or to hang a lantern during the festive season.
We stopped thinking of knots once we learnt to tie our shoelaces. Knot work on ropes depends upon what kind of rope you are dealing with, and what you intend to do with it.
