Madan Mahal Fort was constructed by King Madan Shah, the tenth Gond King and the son of Rani Durgavati, in the years 1110-1116. It is now a property of Archaeological Survey of India.
The 900 year old fort is situated at a height of 500 meters, and served as a palace and a panorama for anticipating enemy attacks. A view of the entire city of Jabalpur can be obtained from this height. It has an attractive entrance made of granite leading to the main fort. The architecturally designed rooms and well planned construction of this fort talk about majesty of the Gond Dynasty.
