Kudremukh in Kannada means 'horse-face' and refers to an impressive scenic sight of a side of the mountain that looks similar to the face of a horse. It is a small village located at a distance of 96 km from the district of Chikmagalur and about 335 km from Bangalore of Karnataka. Nestled in the Western Ghats, the forest is spread over an area of 600 sq km at an altitude of 1,894 m above sea level.

It is ideal place for trekking and an overnight journey from Bangalore makes it most convenient destination for weekend getaways. Natural grasslands and dense Shoal forests makes the greenery of these undulating hills eye-catching.

Day 0

Leaving from Bangalore at late evening. We request you to have some light food before travelling. This trip would be an overnight journey to Kudremukh in which we would have an informal introduction and have fun.

Day 1

The nearest town to kudhremukh is Kalasa, we will be passing through Hassan road to Belur to Kasala town and from there to Balgal. Balgal is a small place at the base of Mullodi Hills which is the base of Kudremukh. From Balgal we would be taking a jeep ride to Homestay in Mullodi Hills which is about 6 km from Balgal (base). The base camp at homestay give a panaromic view of various peaks of kudhremukh. The cold breeze of the Mullodi Hills ignites a joyful experience and prepares you for a wonderful trek.

After Fresh-up and Breakfast we would embark on our journey to Kudremukh peak. On Course we would pass through about 8-9 water streams, 3-4 jungles and several peaks.

Although there are several water streams in between the trails. We would request you to carry an extra empty bottle which you can fill up to keep yourself hydrated through the trek.

Listening to water flowing, birds flittering and cold breeze makes you closer to nature and motivates you to walk all through the mountains and to the peak. The horse faced i.e. kudhremukh mountain is visible throughout the trek guiding your destination and inspiring with its beauty.

A steep inclination on the Zig-Zag trail connects you to the last trail that guides you to the peak.

After spending some quality time at the peak, we would start descending through the same path to homestay for a much awaited campfire, snacks and hot dinner. The homestay also provide non-veg food for dinner if you like.

You could also take bath, if you want as hot water is available at homestay.

Next day

After breakfast we would spend the early morning time at the Somavati River and water fall passing beside the home stay. With packed lunch we would start our journey to Hanumana Gundi Waterfalls. Spend some quality time and then back to Bangalore
